After addressing the EU (European Union) as a dysfunctional entity, the opponents of it were skeptical about the future: The future of EU and of themselves, but more of themselves. Thus, Britain assumed the role of major opponent.

The main reason was to become financially independent and achieve sovereignty from EU. Many believed this could be achieved by leaving the membership of European Union on the part of Britain.

Prime Minister David Cameron then asked the citizens of Britain for their opinion and thus voting took place on Thursday 23rd June 2016. Thus, the term ‘Brexit’; Britain’s Exit from European Union.
